Chris and I went out shooting the other day. With just one lap around the lake, we found ourselves appreciating the beauty! I can't imagine the Colorado landscape any more beautiful. The glowing reflection on the water providing a beautiful foreground to the majestic mountains, framed by green more than a century old.

Just applied to be a Jacksonville "insider" on VisitSouth.com...
It got me thinking how much I really do love that place...The Walter Jones National Park! I got to thinking about how I'd love to be a supporter of "the little guy." I would hate to see such a treasure get lost in today's fast paced tourism and end up closing down from lack of the general public's knowledge. They were "advertising" for volunteers and of course asking for donations to help keep everything going. Let's hope there's more supporters like me!! And for fun, the 100 words I submitted for consideration: "The Mandarin area is full of history and once off the main road, the view is stunning. Gorgeous hundred year old oak trees line the winding road. You’ll find yourself in awe of the beautiful homes mixed with the rich history Jacksonville has to offer. The Walter Jones National Park, not only supplies a self guided walking tour, but a museum to accompany it. Actual plantation structures still stand, and visitors can explore the legendary house. Outside, walkers can explore, families can picnic, and fishermen even have a pier! It’s definitely a peaceful place of history waiting to be rediscovered." |
